We’re Runcorn Old Town Community Land Trust
A group of local people working together to reimagine Runcorn’s Old Town… one idea (and one building) at a time.
Think of us as your local backing team, here to help you make waves, not just plans.
As a Community Land Trust (CLT), we believe the spaces that shape our town should be for and by local people.
Our flagship project? The much-loved Runcorn Swimming Pool — soon to take on a whole new life above the surface.
What’s a Community Land Trust (and why does Runcorn need one)?
A Community Land Trust (CLT) is a non-profit, community-run organisation that owns and manages buildings and land for the benefit of local people.
Ours exists to keep Runcorn’s Old Town full of character and community spirit — by supporting local ideas, affordable spaces, and long-term community ownership.
Our Flagship Project: The Pool
Our flagship project is the much-loved Runcorn Swimming Pool — originally the Old Market Hall at the heart of the town.
We’re reimagining it as a modern community space for markets, events, and local enterprise, a place for Runcorn to meet, create and celebrate again.
Built by the community, for the community — and shaped by your ideas.
Reimagining Runcorn
Backing bold local ideas for the new Old Town
Everyone says there’s nothing happening in Runcorn — but we know that’s not true.
Reimagining Runcorn is about backing the bold ideas that are already here, and the people brave enough to bring them to life.
Over the summer, we asked local people to tell us what they’d build, create, or launch if they had the right support. The response was amazing, from creative businesses and community spaces to pop-ups and social projects.
Working with Kindred LCR, Halton Borough Council, and Halton & St Helens VCA, we hosted drop-in sessions, workshops and 1-to-1 support throughout August to help people shape their ideas.
